Player Code of Conduct

We are so excited to have you at the WYAA and to ensure the safety, fun, and fairness for all players and coaches, please go over our code of conduct! Thank you, we cannot wait for a great season ahead!

All players are expected to:

  • Show Respect
  • Respect coaches, teammates, opponents, umpires, and spectators.
  • Use appropriate language at all times—no taunting, teasing, or profanity.
  • Play Fair
  • Follow the rules of the game and accept officials’ decisions.
  • Win with humility and lose with dignity.
  • Be a Team Player
  • Encourage teammates and show good sportsmanship.
  • Put team success and enjoyment above individual recognition.
  • Try Your Best
  • Give your best effort in practices and games.
  • Be on time and prepared.
  • Stay Safe
  • Use equipment properly.
  • Report injuries or unsafe conditions to a coach immediately.

Coach Code of Conduct

All coaches are expected to:

  • Be a Positive Role Model
  • Demonstrate sportsmanship, integrity, and respect at all times.
  • Remember that children learn by example.
  • Put Player Development First
  • Emphasize skill development, teamwork, and fun over winning.
  • Ensure equal opportunity and fair treatment for all players.
  • Create a Safe Environment
  • Follow league safety rules and injury protocols.
  • Never use physical or verbal abuse.
  • Respect Officials and Opponents
  • Accept umpire decisions without argument or confrontation.
  • Teach players to do the same.
  • Communicate Respectfully
  • Address concerns calmly and appropriately.
  • Maintain professionalism with players, parents, and league officials.

Board Member Code of Conduct

Purpose:
The WYAA Board of Directors is committed to promoting a positive, safe, and development-focused baseball environment for all players, families, coaches, volunteers, and community members. This Code of Conduct establishes expectations for all board members to ensure integrity, professionalism, and accountability in serving the league.

1. Leadership & Integrity

  • Act in the best interest of the league and its participants at all times.
  • Demonstrate honesty, transparency, and ethical decision-making.
  • Avoid conflicts of interest and disclose any potential conflicts immediately.
  • Uphold league bylaws, policies, and procedures.
  • Represent WYAA in a professional and respectful manner in public and online.

2. Respect & Professional Conduct

  • Treat players, parents, coaches, umpires, volunteers, and fellow board members with respect and fairness.
  • Promote sportsmanship and positive behavior at all league events.
  • Refrain from public criticism of players, coaches, umpires, or board members.
  • Address disagreements privately and constructively.
  • Avoid abusive language, harassment, discrimination, or bullying of any kind.

3. Commitment & Participation

  • Attend scheduled board meetings regularly and be prepared to participate.
  • Fulfill the duties and responsibilities of the assigned role.
  • Communicate promptly and effectively with fellow board members.
  • Support league events, fundraising efforts, and special initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively as a team for the success of WYAA.

4. Player-Centered Focus

  • Prioritize player development, safety, and well-being above personal interests.
  • Ensure all decisions reflect fairness and equal opportunity.
  • Promote a positive and encouraging youth sports environment.
  • Support safety standards, including background checks and league safety policies.

5. Financial Responsibility

  • Exercise responsible stewardship of league funds.
  • Ensure transparency in financial decisions and reporting.
  • Follow approved budgeting and purchasing procedures.
  • Avoid unauthorized expenditures or misuse of league assets.

6. Confidentiality

  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive league matters, including personnel, disciplinary, and financial discussions.
  • Avoid sharing private information outside official meetings or approved communications.
  • Refrain from discussing closed meeting topics with the general public.

7. Social Media & Public Representation

  • Represent WYAA positively on social media platforms.
  • Avoid engaging in online disputes related to league matters.
  • Direct concerns through proper league channels rather than public forums.

8. Enforcement

  • Formal warning.
  • Suspension from the board.
  • Removal from board position (as outlined in league bylaws).

Field & Facility Conduct

All participants must:

  • Keep fields, dugouts, and common areas clean.
  • Treat league property and equipment with care.
  • No alcohol, tobacco, vaping, or drugs on or around the fields.
  • Follow posted rules and league policies at all times.

Zero Tolerance Policy

The following behaviors will not be tolerated:

  • Harassment, bullying, or discrimination of any kind
  • Physical or verbal abuse
  • Threatening behavior toward players, coaches, umpires, or spectators
  • Unsportsmanlike conduct

Violations may result in warnings, suspension, or removal from the league, depending on severity.

By participating in the WYAA program, everyone agrees to uphold this Code of Conduct and help create a positive experience for everyone involved.
